On Saturday, 14 March 2020, on the premises of the Rectorate of the University of Banja Luka, H.E. Mr Myles Geiran, Ambassador of Ireland to Bosnia and Herzegovina, was hosted in a meeting held with the delegation of the University, namely Prof. Petar Penda, PhD, Dean of the Faculty of Philology, Prof. Dalibor Kesić, Vice-Rector for Human and Material Resources, and Ms Ivana Rogić, Head of the Rector’s Cabinet. The participants confirmed the commencement of the project concerning the translation of an anthology of Irish short fiction, to be published by the Faculty of Philology, with the financial aid of the Irish Embassy to Bosnia and Herzegovnia. In addition, the topics discussed encompassed the possibilities of promoting Irish literature and culture in Bosnia and Herzegovina, a student and staff exchange, as well as the signing of cooperation agreements with some of the leading universities in Ireland and scholarships offered. On 25 November 2019, Mr Geiran visited the Faculty of Philology, when he initiated the cooperation concerning the Irish studies and putting the “International Joyce” exhibition on display on the premises of the Faculty, which has already been successfully realised.
