Tuition fees
The tuition fees vary and depend on the student status. In accordance with the Study Rules and Regulations, upon enrolment, one acquires the status of full-time or part-time student. Full-time students fall into three subcategories, namely:
- students fully funded by the state
- students co-funded by the state
- international students
Students fully funded by the state are exempt from paying tuition fees. The tuition fees paid by students co-funded by the state and part-time students are specified in a decision made by the Government of the Republic of Srpska. This decision is made annually, usually in May, for the upcoming academic year.
Quite importantly, the tuition fees for the academic year 2018-2019 paid by students co-funded by the state studying at public universities in the Republic of Srpska are the lowest in the region, and have not increased in years.
Pursuant to the decision of the Government of the Republic of Srpska, the 2018-2019 annual tuition fees for all study programmes equalled BAM 440.00, with the exception of the Faculty of Medicine, where they were BAM 660.00, and the study programmes offered by the Academy of Arts, where they ranged BAM 660.00-1,500.00. The tuition fees paid by part-time students enrolled in all bachelor study programmes were BAM 1,500.00.
University admissions competition
The university admissions competition is advertised in accordance with a special decision of the Government of the Republic of Srpska, which specifies the number of students to be enrolled in the first year of bachelor study programmes at public universities and colleges for the upcoming academic year.
To be eligible for enrolment in the first year of bachelor study programmes, candidates submit a four-year secondary education diploma received in the Republic of Srpska/Bosnia and Herzegovina, or an equivalent certificate obtained abroad.
The university admissions competition advertisement specifies the number of students to enrol in each individual study programme, admissions requirements, candidate ranking criteria, competition proceedings, application deadlines, entrance examination dates and times, as well as the times and dates of publication of candidate ranking and enrolment. It also states the tuition fees to be paid by students not to be funded by the state, the degree titles conferred upon graduation from each individual degree programme, and other provisions.
The university admissions competition advertisement for the upcoming academic year is to be published in June 2019 on the University of Banja Luka website, www.unibl.org, and in two daily newspapers.
